Italian passport under 12 (postal route)
For the Italian Consulate in Manchester, passports for children aged 0–11 are handled by post only: no Prenot@Mi, no appointment required.

Costs & payments
No appointment: for Manchester, under-12 is postal only. The Consulate requests payment by email (bank transfer) after checking your pack.
The consular passport fee is updated quarterly and is currently around £100 (always check the official fee table).
Resinaro’s support fee is separate from the consular fee and is shared after an initial review of your case.
Checklist: what goes in the envelope
For Manchester (under-12) you’ll usually include:
- 1) Under-12 passport form completed and signed.
- 2) Copies of both parents’ valid (not expired) ID documents (driving licences are NOT accepted).
- 3) Consent from both parents (signed per Consulate rules).
- 4) Two recent passport photos (≤ 6 months), ICAO compliant; one authenticated by a UK/EU citizen (not a relative, knows parents ≥ 2 years) using the dedicated form and an accepted profession.
- 5) Proof of parents’ address (≤ 3 months).
- 6) Prepaid Royal Mail Special Delivery envelope up to 500g with return address.
- 7) Child’s previous Italian passport (original) for renewals / or a copy of another Italian ID or foreign passport for first issue.
- 8) Copy of Italian ID card, if available.
- 9) Lost/stolen: specific form + police report.
Important: incomplete/incorrect packs can be returned to the sender. Also, since 28 May 2025, you cannot submit a first passport application together with birth registration.
Special cases (easy to get wrong)
- Non-EU parent: signature/consent may require authentication (Consulate / UK notary with apostille + translation, etc.).
- Missing other parent’s consent: you may need a Consular “Giudice Tutelare” decree route.
- Lost/stolen passport: dedicated form + police report.
- First passport: confirm the child’s birth has been registered in Italy before posting the pack.
Timelines (honest expectations)
The Manchester Consulate has warned timelines can reach up to 25 weeks. Avoid booking travel until you have the passport in hand.
